I'm 42 (how did that happen?!) years old, insanely happily married to my best friend for 8 years (today!), no kids (but have nieces that I spoil rotten whenever possible), and live in Baltimore, MD. I also love gardening, camping, traveling, movies, music, and spending time with friends & family. I have a LOVE / HATE relationship with FOOD.... I LOVE to eat it, but I HATE what it does to my waistline!!! I seriously think I could LIVE on POPCORN - No, not the air-popped, healthy pop kind - the kind that's popped on the stove with oil!!!).
I will be sharing mostly my arts & crafts on the blog, but you may find some other things creep in from time to time --- after all, arts & crafts can be applied to almost any aspect of life, RIGHT?
To kick things off, I wanted to share a project I did recently. Little did I know that the centerpiece of this altered box project would end up being the actual name of this blog (I LOVE those "meant to be" moments!). One of said nieces (above) was kind enough to invite me to her 13th birthday party to do a craft project with her gang of girls (small gang - only 4), and of course I couldn't say no, and had a wonderful time playing and creating with them. Sorry I don't have step-by-step pix - didn't make this with a blog in mind... I only have the finished product. As you can see, I am a BIG BIG fan of Tim Holtz, and draw a lot of inspiration from his various products.
I started with an unfinished 8x8 (ish) wood box. Primed it with white paint and then used Ranger Paint Dabbers to swipe different layers of paint randomly over the whole box (all sides, inside and out, I even altered the shiny brass (eewww!) hinges to look more distressed).
Then I chose various images from Tim's new paper collection and glued them to fragments using Ranger Glossy Accents, and chose several different pieces of idea-ology (I LOVE METAL) to finish it off. The hardest part of this project was choosing from all the awesome images and embellishments (which of them were "box-worthy"??? ) Here's a couple more shots of the box, as well as another box I did that night.
PS - I love comments! (hint, hint....) hee!
