I spent some time over the weekend playing in my art journal. My "mojo" has gone missing lately so I just wanted to do *something*. Kept it very simple, but I'm pleased with the pages... each one started with a simple painted background, paint applied with a baby wipe. Super easy blending.
This first page uses three colors of Fresco Chalk paints from PaperArtsy - chartreuse, seaweed, and green olives. Then I stamped the scratchy rectangle stamp from my EEV02 stamp set using sage green archival ink. I also added some border stamping using what I call the "fringe" stamp from my EEV05 stamp set - used Wendy Vecchi's geranium red archival ink for that and added little white dots to the centers with a white paint pen.
Then I found this adorable bird house with flowers image in a magazine, along with this cute pair of birds, did some fussy cutting and glued them down.
And then added some very simple lettering - I've been playing with "tall and skinny" letters lately - fun - and since I'll never be tall OR skinny... well, a girl can dream.... LOL!
This next page used much the same method - painted background - not sure what paints I used for this one - it was using up paint from another project... yellow all over, then orange around the outside, and red on the borders. No background stamping on this page... in fact, no stamping at ALL!
I found this awesome photo in a magazine, added a torn map across the bottom, and some more tall and skinny lettering. I didn't really know what to write, so I just made up a 3-line story/poem(?) for the picture.
I also got started on another page spread. So far it's just the images glued down. No idea where it will go next, but I liked the images, and they go together nicely across the 2-page spread.
All of the images for these pages came from Birds & Blooms. I'm lucky that my dear SIL subscribes to this magazine and throws the back issues my way! Thanks Pammie!
Hope your week is off to a good start. Hope to see you soon.
